Colorado Gators!

Even the title sounds odd, but one of the most bizarre and frightening places you could ever visit is the Alligator Farm near where I grew up. The mountain hot springs make it possible for the alligators to survive in such a harsh climate. The place is smelly and completely unsafe which only adds to the excitement when you are a little boy. You can feed the gators and visit Morris the alligator that starred in Happy Gilmore, all while only being separated from these ferocious creatures by some hastily strung chicken wire. The kids can hold a baby gator and I had the opportunity to get real cozy with a giant tortoise, when he lifted his fat little turtle leg and peed all over me.

Ahhh, scary! I'm not sure I would be wanting to take my kids there. You are a brave woman!

Okay, that is just too close for comfort! And sorry you got peed on. I love that you do such "boy stuff" with your little guys. Brock needs more of that. Our house is infested with girls.

On one of our trips to the valley, we stopped at that scary gator place. I still recall the hot sticky air and horrible smells. And I also thought the shotty chicken wire wasn't enough to protect us if things got crazy!!
I am sure your boys loved it though-quite an adventure at that place!
